Firing the New Canon part 2
In my last entry, Firing the New Canon part 1, I posted some test shots taken with my new lens, the Canon 35mm f2.0. Those photos were taken outside in daylight however one of the reasons I bought this lens was to give me a better ability to take low light shots with no flash. Here are a few of the low light test shots I took while visiting family for Christmas. Above is a photo taken at ISO 1600 at f2.0 for 1/80 sec. with daylight from a glass door to her left.
I enjoy the warmth and character that ambient light adds to a photo and consequently I usually choose not to adjust the color temperature when processing. This photo was taken at ISO 1600 at f2.0 for 1/13 sec. with light from a table top Christmas tree and two birthday candles on a cake.
It’s funny that I chose a wider angle lens because I didn’t want to be limited to portraits but ended up moving in closer to get portrait shots. The image above was taken at ISO 800 at f2.0 for 1/50 sec, with light from Christmas decor and some outside light from the windows.

Wow, I am really impressed at the clarity of those shots, given the ISO and lighting. I shoot a lot of photos indoors, and might want to talk to you more about this lens.

Thanks, I’ve been pleased with the results so far and I’d be more than happy to share what I learned when researching lenses.
