Firing the New Canon part 1

Just before Christmas I finally ordered a new lens for my Canon XTI. My decision was to go with a prime lens and I narrowed down the contenders to the Canon 28mm f1.8 and the Canon 35mm f2.0. With much research and debate behind me, the Canon 35mm f 2.0 emerged the winner. (The top photo was taken at ISO 400 at f2.0 for 1/4000 sec.)

Now came the time to take some test shots and my niece and one of my nephews proved to be great subjects while getting acquainted with the lens. (The photo above was taken, while he was spinning on the swing, at ISO 100 at f4.0 for 1/100 sec.)

The kids were playing out in the warm Christmas weather so I followed them around a bit to get some outdoor shots. (The photo above was taken, as she watched her big brother, at ISO 100 at f2.0 for 1/400 sec.)

So far I’m very happy with the results. I also took some low light and indoor shots utilizing the wide aperture which I will put in another entry. (This photo was taken at ISO 100 at f2.8 for 1/320 sec, showing my niece with her new doll wearing matching dresses.)
